Summary:  I really would like to thank GoodVibes for giving me free minutes and entrance into their newly designed VOD viewing studio.  It was a great experience, and one that I will want to repeat again and again, now that I’m hooked.

Pros: Great quality films, good selection of award-winners, features, women directed and sex positive flicks.  Good connection and quality viewing.  The ability to pause, FF and RW, without being charged.  Affordable.  The ability to download quickly while viewing.

Cons:  Could include more categories of hardcore.  Many of the titles were unavailable at the time of my review.  It would be great if there was the ability to save favorites in a collection on your user profile, so you could easily go back to them, rather than searching each time.  They could also maybe offer free token minutes for viewer’s feedback and reviews of the films.

Review:

I was recently invited by GoodVibes to review their new VOD section and of course, I was more than happy to.  VOD is a new thing for me; I mostly rent flicks, or get review copies of porn to watch.  So watching it online was interesting, as I didn’t know what to expect.  I mean, I’ve seen freebies and trailers, but this was real films on-screen right now.  What a concept!

So I signed into my account a GoodVibes.com and wow, 200 free minutes for me.  This would be certainly long enough for me to check out lots of hot flicks, browse their numerous selections and categories.  First I read the user FAQs before getting started, since I didn’t want to screw it up and waste my precious 200 minutes.  The instructions were limited, but fairly simple.  Pretty well click the play > button and view the film.

There were also several viewing options you could choose:

You can actually download the full films from GoodVibes for viewing later on for about $10 a film, which I thought was an amazing value, considering most quality porn DVDs cost $20 and up.  GoodVibes also provide a free Download Manager which enables you to begin playing your movie within minutes while download is completed in the background.

For Pay-Per-minutes viewing, which was what I was doing, GoodVibes has two VOD player options you can choose from: Enhanced Embedded Player & Windows Media player.  I tried both to see which I liked better and what each offered.  I ended up using the Enhanced Embedded Player as it seemed easier to fast-forward on or skip ahead while viewing and it also offered screen captures of scenes that you could click and play (when available for the specific films your were viewing).  While most films you paid per minute, other newer releases were 2x and 3x your minutes, so they’d eat your minutes up faster.  Naturally we avoided those.  A plus though, if you did happen to click on one in your enthusiasm, which we did, Good Vibes warns you before you actually watch the film and waste your minutes.  Another cool thing about the minutes is that you are only charged for viewing.  So pause, fast forward, rewind, all you like and you are only charged for the actual viewing time.  Which is good since we paused, fast forwarded, reviewed, and replayed a lot!

The viewing library had a decent selection: all high quality, award-winning or popular films.  They have numerous sex-positive categories including: Women Directed, Features, All Sex, Hardcore, Sex Ed, Documentary and LGBT as well.  Many of the titles were not available for viewing with PPM, but I assume this is due to the newness of the program and these will be added in time.

So my partner and I took a lazy Saturday afternoon and turned it into a porn viewing hump fest that was thoroughly enjoyable.  We watched films on my PC first, and then decided to view them on his laptop, so we could lounge in the living and camp out.

We watched plenty of quick views: a couple minutes here, a few more there, viewing our way through the various offerings until we came to a category that we both liked and stayed there for a bit: Alt Porn.  I’m a fan of Joanna Angel and various alt Goth pornographers, so this was a good section for me.  I’ve wanted to watch some of Eon McKai’s films, so started with Kill Girl Kill, an obvious choice.  The DVD descriptions for some of the films on the site were not that great and the program would benefit from some quality viewer reviews.

Director Eon McKai has been hailed as a “pomo punk auteur” by Fleshbot who since his debut with Art School Sluts (2004), has been producing avant-garde hardcore films that have made him one of the most visually innovative of the adult film directors in the industry.  I watched two scenes in this film, both with Kurt Lockwood, cause he hot, tattooed and likes to play rough.  The first scene features emo-goth-chick Veronica Jett where Kurt spanks and roughs her up, then the regular hardcore action you can expect from most films, but with much more enthusiasm and punk aesthetic.  Raw, sleazy action!  The third scene features Mya Rose, Gia Jordan, and once again Kurt Lockwood (drool) and the three-way action is intense.  Mya Rose is a black beauty with blonde hair and a body to die for.  Lots of sucking, fucking and the usual other “bucking” going on here.  Again, Lockwood is rough and sexy as hell.

After the great performances of Kill Girl Kill, I was hooked and wanted to see more Eon McKai and Kurt Lockwood.

I only watched the one scene with Kurt Lockwood in this film and it was great.  It was the first scene featuring a hot little Asian girl who was dressed up like a little punk doll.  Kurt manhandles her and picks her up, forces his finger in her mouth and other hotness.  Some great hardcore action as well highlights this scene.

Then it was time to turn to some tamer pursuits so I went to the Educational section and picked one of Nina Hartley’s films that I haven’t scene yet.

Nina Hartley’s Guide to Multiple Orgasms (2004)

I love Nina Hartley and her “guides” as she is always so funny, warm, and articulate, which make the viewing entertaining and the content enlightening.  I watched the opening section with Nina’s instructional talk with Layla where she talks about women’s sexual response cycle and explains the clinical and erotic aspects of orgasm with a chart.  Next, I FF’d ahead to see Nina’s demon on Aria, a multi-orgasmic hot adult performer.  The scene looked hot, but I raced ahead again and watched a bit of Nicole and Voodoo, who always sizzle onscreen.  Wish I had time to watch more, but for the sake of this review, duty called.

I have heard so many good things about Comstock Films that I wasn’t going to give up the chance to watch one of their films with real life couples having real life sex, so off to the Documentary section I flew.  I really wanted to see Erika Lust’s Barcelona Sex Project, but unfortunately it was not available yet as a PPV.  Since the lesbian feature Ashley and Kisha: Finding the Right Fit (2007) wasn’t available, I decided to start form the beginning and view Marie and Jack - a Hardcore Love Story.

This film is a sex documentary and begins with an interview of the couple talking about their experiences as porn stars, and more importantly, their own intimate sexual relationship.  I watched a bit of the interview, which was interesting, then FF’d to the sex scenes.  I really, love, love, love, the way Tony filmed this flick, with extreme close-up haptic imagery that focuses on the faces, their expressions, groping hands, and all the little nuances of intimate sex, so you feel almost a part of the scene.  Beautifully filmed and amazing raw energy as well as joyous intimacy portrayed by Marie and Jack.  Super hot, sweaty and tender lovemaking.

My favorite section of the site was the Women Directed section that featured tons of excellent films by women.  Quite a few of the titles were unfortunately unavailable, such as all Pink and White’s flicks.  I chose to watch a few scenes from Lesbian Life - Real Sex San Francisco by director Madison Young, even though I have the DVD.  I wanted to see how the VOD compared to the real thing (if you can call a DVD that).

Lesbian Life by director Madison Young of Madison Bound, features real sex, by real lesbians, and is real hot.  With performances from some of my favorite queer, gender-bending dykes: Jiz Lee, Shawn and Dylan Ryan and intense hardcore dyke action, what’s not to like?  This film is outrageously hot with authentic sex scenes by real lesbians and dykes who like to fuck hard and nasty.  Great chemistry between all the performers as well as hot fisting, strap-on, squirting and cunninglingus action, make this film a must see for real lesbians who want to get hot and bothered with real dyke porn.  The VOD of the film looked pretty good in comparison and I was impressed with the quality.  It played seamlessly for the laptop, but not quite as well on my dinosaur PC.  Check out my full review of this film at Viviane’s Sex Carnival!
