Swapping their wedding finery for jumpsuits and harnesses, a Scottish couple became the first to officially tie the knot on top of Sydney's iconic Harbour Bridge on a blustery and rainy Monday.
![]() Stephen Tierney, 27, and Claire Tullan, 28, from Glasgow braved the cold, wind and damp to climb some 134 meters (feet) above the harbor for their wedding. Tullan's wedding ring was also attached to a safety rope, just in case. "I always wanted somewhere unusual to get married and this was the first place, somewhere I've always wanted to visit and I thought it would be amazing to do it," Tullan told Australian media. "I'm so excited I don't believe I've actually done it." Harbor Bridge, with its sweeping vistas of the city, is one of the world's most recognizable, and perhaps romantic, sites, with scores of celebrities posing on, or infront, of it. An Australian news website said the couple had approached the company which operates the bridge last year with their novel idea, paving the way for more sky-high weddings. "Wedding climbs are something that we will be able to offer to couples very soon," a spokesman for bridge operator BridgeClimb told news.com.au.
