![]() Yes, Sir: Erotic Stories of Male Dominance, edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel is full of submissive tales from some of the powerhouse names in erotica like Alison Tyler, Gwen Masters, Lisabet Sarai, Donna George Storey and even one by the editor, Rachel Kramer Bussel. If you are into the BDSM world, you’ll love this book. If you’re not into BDSM but you love erotica, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the depth and sensuality in many of these stories. There is so much more to the pieces in this collection than just “tie me up, spank me, whip me, do anything you want to me” women trying to please a dominant man. While these stories are about control, you sometimes have to wonder where the real control lies. The Doms would never have power if the subs didn’t let them. It is that simple and that complicated which makes for exquisite reading when you figure out the nature of it all. In addition to the control issues in this unique collection of erotica, you will also find people dealing with everyday issues and resolving them through BDSM outlets: tales of surrender, exploration, getting over hang ups and fears, and of course, you’ll find couples having good old, dirty, kinky sex. Yes, Sir opens with Alison Tyler’s story The Art of Darkness. Her main character Greer, finally admits her fears to her Dom, Killian, and in his own kinky, dominant way pushes her to overcome them. Yes, Sir closes with a tale, How Bad Do You Want It, by Gwen Masters, about a husband who brings something new to the marital bed and then punishes his wife thoroughly for enjoying it. Bussel’s story, Make Me, explores the roles of the personal trainer and client, how very BDSM they are and what happens when that relationship becomes sexual and is taken to a whole new level. Other erotic stories in this collection include tales of the Dom becoming the sub, a student getting a very different kind of education from her professor, an electrifying tale of erotic exploration and experimentation, a story about a Dom hating the color pink, and several other entertaining tales of dominance, submission, love, lust and human sexuality. Rachel Kramer Bussel did an excellent job of selecting the stories to appear in this collection. She picked ones that help will help a novice to the BDSM world get a better understanding of how it works. This collection graphically explains what makes these women tick, why they hand over control and how they keep it while letting someone else drive. If you want to understand why a woman becomes a sub check this collection out, it might give you more insight into this world so many find frightening and others find exhilarating. I must admit I wasn’t expecting to enjoy or understand this collection. I am not into BDSM and as a total control freak and feminist, I can’t really imagine giving total control to a man and being subservient. I’ve been fighting too long to battle women being treated like that. With this collection, I discovered that in many cases it isn’t about being a pathetic wimp and letting the man be a God, a Master. It’s about letting go, shedding inhibitions, conquering fears, and sometimes enjoying the ride when someone else takes the reigns. I was very pleasantly surprised and slightly aroused. This book has inspired me. Maybe I will let my husband tie me up one of these nights or spank me sometime. It might even be fun. I may even enjoy it…a lot. © 2008 Roxanne Rhoads
