![]() Cherie Feather has penned a passionate tale that successfully weaves together the separate stories of two sets of lovers spanning more than a century apart yet are inexplicably intertwined by passion, love and art. In the prologue, The Art of Desire opens in 1895 where we receive a sneak peak at the London born society girl Catherine. Catherine is a bohemian artist that left home and came to America with just her nanny, now they live alone in the wild American countryside of Texas where Catherine has just encountered a naked Indian at the river. Instead of being terrified she is enchanted…and aroused. After meeting Atacar her life will never be the same. In chapter One, we are introduced to the present day set of lovers, Mandy and Jared. Mandy is an art director at the Santa Fe Women’s Art Museum and Jared is her younger (by ten years) cowboy lover. Thrown together by history and art they seem to be an odd pair, yet passion joins them together perfectly. Mandy is somewhat obsessed with the story of Catherine and Atacar. The museum contains a portrait of Atacar that Catherine painted. Rumor tells a tale that Catherine left behind a journal and Mandy wants to get her hands on that journal. Jared is Atacar’s ancestor and through him Mandy wants to learn more about Atacar and Catherine but falls into Jared’s seduction as well. Mandy and Jared are hot together. Mandy’s the good-bad girl and Jared is the oh so naughty, dirty, sexy bad boy complete with tattoos and piercings. He’s a dark and brooding cowboy/American Indian that Mandy just can’t get enough of nor can he get enough of her. The story is so riveting and full of hot sex you’ll definitely want to keep some cool drinks and a lot of ice cubes nearby in case you need a quick cool down. I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the story and the characters in The Art of Desire, especially the characters- they are so real, fleshed out, complete with inner struggles, heart aches and suffering. And the story is so believable, touching, and a little edgy. The sex is practically non-stop but it is written in such a way that it is original and so sexy, believable and real. It is that wild high you get in the beginning of a relationship, the non-stop desire the need to constantly be together, the wild hot sex romps that keep you up all night. That relationship where all you want is sex with that person, it’s like a drug, and it’s dirty, sexy and sweet at the same time. That red hot affair that makes your heart race with lust…and fear when suddenly you realize it’s becoming more than sex. The sex leads to romance and cuddling and caring…oh my god! Are you falling in love? That’s the story of Mandy and Jared. That’s where they are and neither of them wants to fall in love. The Art of Desire goes back and forth between Mandy and Jared’s present day affair and Catherine and Atacar’s love story, as told through Catherine’s journal. The journal Mandy so desperately wants to get her hands on, the journal that Jared has in his possession but hasn’t told Mandy that he has it. Both stories are equally hot and full of passion and sex but while Catherine and Atacar accept their forbidden love, Jared and Mandy deny emotion and continue on with “it’s just sex”. This is a fast paced page turner that keeps you reading because you want more; you want to know how it will end. We know from the beginning that Catherine and Atacar were doomed and we eventually learn the complete story and how their scorching tale ended but what about Mandy and Jared? How does their tale end? Will they dare to love, continue as lovers or will fear separate them forever? Read The Art of Desire to find out. This is a sizzling summer read you are sure to enjoy. © 2008 Roxanne Rhoads The Art of Desire Roxanne Rhoads is a freelance writer, erotica author, poet, and editor She writes everything from articles to web content.
