The hottest biography to hit the bookshelves will undoubtedly be Mr Playboy: Hugh Hefner and the American Dream.
For those of us unaware of Mr Hefner’s sexual exploits, page six ought to offer a few spicy hints about Hefner’s early exploits, including a foursome experienced with his brother.
"It did happen with his brother, Keith, and his wife, Rae, one evening," author Steven Watts writes. "(But) while Millie (Hefner's first wife) ultimately backed out of having sex with Keith, Hugh slept with his sister-in-law." Hefner also experimented with a man. "Hefner's thirst for sexual experience became so strong that he even had a one-time homosexual experience," Watts writes.
The book is set for October 2008 release and by the looks of things, will compliment one of the most influential (and controversial) publishing businesses in American history - Playboy Magazine, which now forms one part of Playboy Enterprises.
Playboy is no longer a laddish magazine, it is a global company that has moved into the 21st century and cyberspace. Hugh Hefner continues to be a polarizing figure, receiving equal measures of positive and negative feedback, and remains one of the most charismatic pop culture icons.
Steven Watts is a professor of history at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and his previous biographies include The People’s Tycoon: Henry Ford and the American Century and The Magic Kingdom: Walt Disney and the American Way of Life.
